CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 51% and 89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Regulation

Vantage and FXOpen, both established brokers in the online trading world, differ in their level of regulatory trust according to ForexBrokers.com. Vantage, founded in 2009, holds a Trust Score of 90 out of 99, marking it as highly trusted. In contrast, FXOpen, which has been around since 2003, has a Trust Score of 76, considered to present an average risk. Both brokers hold two Tier-1 licenses each, which are also highly trusted. However, Vantage distinguishes itself by also having a Tier-2 license, adding an extra layer of regulatory reassurance. Neither Vantage nor FXOpen is publicly traded or operates as a bank.

Fees

Vantage earns 4.5/5 stars for commissions and fees and ranks #20 out of 63 brokers, while FXOpen holds 4/5 stars and ranks #45. Vantage publishes clear pricing across three account types, but FXOpen does not provide average spread data, making direct, apples-to-apples comparisons more difficult.

At Vantage, the Standard STP account is spread-only with typical EUR/USD spreads around 1.30 pips (March 2023). The Raw ECN account averages 0.15 pips plus a $3 commission per side ($6 round turn), for about 0.75 pips all-in. The PRO ECN account lowers the commission to $2 per side ($4 round turn), though eligibility varies by entity (for example, wholesale-client status in Australia or a $10,000 minimum under the Cayman Islands entity). For those who qualify, PRO ECN is Vantage’s lowest-cost option, though overall pricing sits closer to the industry average than the very cheapest providers.

Vantage also offers an active trader program that rebates $2–$8 per standard lot based on balance and monthly volume (tiers start at $10,000 and go up to $300,000 in equity). Keep in mind these rebates apply only to the Standard account, which has the highest spreads among Vantage’s choices. In short: Vantage’s higher 4.5-star rating and #20 rank, plus its published costs, may suit fee-focused traders who can meet account requirements, while FXOpen’s 4-star rating and #45 rank indicate solid—though less transparent—pricing due to the lack of average spread data.

Featured Offers

Range of investments

Vantage offers a much wider selection of markets than FXOpen. You can trade about 1,000 symbols at Vantage versus roughly 87 at FXOpen. For forex, Vantage lists 61 currency pairs while FXOpen lists 25. Both brokers support forex through CFDs or spot contracts, and neither provides direct share dealing on U.S. or international exchanges—so you can’t buy stocks like Apple or Vodafone outright through either platform. Both also do not offer actual (delivered) cryptocurrencies; instead, each supports crypto trading via derivatives.

Copy trading is available at both. In ForexBrokers.com’s Range of Investments category, Vantage earned 3.5 out of 5 stars and ranked 51st out of 63 brokers, while FXOpen received 3 stars and ranked 63rd. If having more markets to choose from matters to you, Vantage has the clear edge; if you only need a smaller lineup and want similar features like copy trading and crypto derivatives, FXOpen can still fit the bill.

Forex trading apps

In ForexBrokers.com’s Mobile Trading Apps category, Vantage ranks #29 out of 63 brokers, while FXOpen sits at #55. Both apps support price alerts and let you build watchlists with real-time quotes, though neither syncs watchlist symbols with your online account.

Charting tools are similar: each app includes 30 technical studies, trendline drawing, and multiple time frames (intraday, daily, weekly). The key difference is chart annotations—Vantage auto-saves your drawings, while FXOpen does not. If saving your chart work matters, Vantage has the edge; if you just need core charting, alerts, and watchlists on iOS or Android, both apps will get the job done.
