Fees

Moneta Markets edges out Trading 212 on costs in our comparison of commissions and fees. Moneta Markets is rated 4.5/5 stars and ranks #17 of 63 for Commissions and Fees, while Trading 212 earns 4/5 stars and ranks #50 of 63. Both aim for low-cost trading, but their pricing structures differ and can lead to very different all-in costs depending on the account you choose.

Trading 212 offers an Invest account for shares and a CFD account for CFDs and forex; minimum deposits are €1 and €10 respectively. While Trading 212 advertises zero-commission trading, you still pay the spread. In April 2025 its published average spread for EUR/USD was 2.7 pips, which is well above the industry average. The result is that, despite no explicit commission, the all-in cost on its CFD/forex trades can be relatively high.

Moneta Markets provides three choices: the commission-free Direct STP account, and two commission-based ECN accounts (Prime ECN and Ultra ECN). The Direct STP account averaged 1.38 pips on EUR/USD in August 2023. Prime ECN averaged 0.194 pips plus a $3-per-side commission per 100,000 units ($6 round trip), for an estimated all-in cost around 0.79 pips—slightly below the industry average. Ultra ECN lowers the commission to $2 round trip but requires a $20,000 deposit. Taken together, Moneta’s ECN pricing—and even its STP spreads—can undercut Trading 212’s 2.7-pip EUR/USD average, though Moneta Markets still isn’t among the very cheapest brokers overall. Moneta Markets: 4.5/5 stars, ranked #17/63. Trading 212: 4/5 stars, ranked #50/63.
