Fees

Interactive Brokers (5/5 stars; ranked #2 of 63 for Commissions & Fees) generally comes out cheaper than Eightcap (4/5 stars; ranked #27 of 63). On EUR/USD, Interactive Brokers’ all-in cost was about 0.59 pips in Q3 2024, while Eightcap’s Raw account averages roughly 0.76 pips after commissions—making IBKR the lower-cost pick for many forex traders.

Interactive Brokers charges a commission instead of marking up spreads. The firm aggregates quotes from 17 major interbank dealers and lists commissions at $16–$40 per million round turn ($8–$20 per side), or 0.00002 (0.2 bps) of the U.S. dollar trade value per side with a $2 minimum per order ($4 round turn). IBKR’s observed average spread on EUR/USD was 0.19 pips in Q3 2024; after commission, the all-in cost was about 0.59 pips. A $100,000 EUR/USD trade equates to roughly 0.40 pips in commission on top of the spread, and the $2-per-side minimum makes smaller-than-100k trades proportionally pricier. High-volume discounts can drop the minimum to $1.50 per order above $1B in monthly volume and to $1 at $5B; large orders can be handled via RFQ. IBKR Lite and IBKR Pro support forex but are not commission-free.

Eightcap offers two pricing paths: the commission-based Raw account and the spread-only Standard account. The Raw account lists an average spread of 0.06 pips, and once you add the $3.50 per-side commission, the all-in cost is about 0.76 pips on EUR/USD—just under the industry average of 0.8 pips. That keeps Eightcap competitive, though it remains slightly pricier than the very lowest-cost brokers.
