In practice, Saxo tends to offer sharper overall trading costs—especially for higher balances and active traders—whereas FxPro’s pricing is generally higher than the industry average.

Saxo is commission-free for forex (it earns from the spread), with one exception: if you trade under 50,000 units per month, there’s a $3 per side ticket fee. As of November 2023, typical EUR/USD spreads were 1.1 pips on the Classic account (minimum about 0.9), 1.0 pips on Platinum, and 0.9 pips on VIP; minimums run about 0.2 pips under those averages. Pricing improves as you move up tiers, and Saxo waives custody fees for share trading if you opt into securities lending. Account minimums: Classic $0; Platinum $200,000 (AUD 300,000 in Australia); VIP $1,000,000 or qualifying volume via Saxo’s loyalty program.

FxPro’s pricing depends on platform and execution. Its most competitive setup is cTrader with commission-based pricing, where the effective EUR/USD cost is about 1.27 pips (0.37-pip average spread plus a 0.9-pip commission equivalent, based on August 2020 data). On MT4/MT5 with floating spreads, typical EUR/USD pricing is around 1.58 pips for market execution (1.51 on MT5) and 1.71 pips for instant execution; fixed spreads are offered only on MT4. FxPro’s Elite/Active Trader program can cut costs by up to 30%, but even with discounts, average pricing often trails leading low-cost peers—and frequently, Saxo.
