The difference shows up most clearly on EUR/USD all-in costs and account structures.
FxPro’s pricing is generally above the industry average. Its most competitive setup is on cTrader with commission-based pricing: the effective EUR/USD cost was about 1.27 pips (0.37-pip average spread plus a 0.9-pip commission-equivalent; August 2020 data). On MT4/MT5 with variable spreads, EUR/USD averaged about 1.58 pips on market execution (1.51 on MT5) and 1.71 pips on instant execution. Execution choice matters: instant execution can requote but avoids slippage; market execution can slip but doesn’t requote. Note also the order-distance rules—cTrader has no minimum distance for stops/limits, while MetaTrader requires at least 1 pip—even on the Elite account. FxPro’s Elite/Active Trader program offers up to 30% discounts, but overall pricing still trails top low-cost rivals.
Tickmill offers two simple account types. The Classic account is commission-free but carries higher average spreads (about 1.76 pips on EUR/USD as of August 2023). The Raw account (which replaced Pro) has very low spreads—Tickmill lists a typical 0.11-pip EUR/USD spread (October 2023)—plus a $3-per-side commission ($6 round turn per standard lot). That puts the current all-in EUR/USD cost around 0.71 pips after the commission increase, recorded under normal market conditions. With a $100 minimum for Raw and pricing that favors active and algorithmic traders, Tickmill remains one of the lowest-cost choices.
