When comparing FxPro vs ActivTrades on commissions and fees, both brokers earn 4 out of 5 stars, but ActivTrades comes out ahead in the rankings. ForexBrokers.com places FxPro at #30 out of 36 brokers for commissions and fees, while ActivTrades ranks #22 out of 36. In plain terms, ActivTrades is the cheaper of the two overall, though neither broker is among the very lowest-cost options in the market.
FxPro’s pricing sits above the industry average, especially on its MetaTrader accounts, where EUR/USD spreads were listed around 1.58 pips on market execution and 1.71 pips on instant execution, based on its August 2020 data. FxPro’s best pricing is on cTrader, where commission-based trading gives an effective EUR/USD cost of about 1.27 pips. Active traders can also use FxPro’s Elite account for discounts of up to 30%, but even then the broker still trails some of the biggest low-cost competitors.
ActivTrades offers slightly better-than-average spreads overall, with an average EUR/USD spread of 0.98 pips in May 2024. FxPro and ActivTrades both give traders access to forex as CFDs or spot contracts, along with copy trading and cryptocurrency CFDs. Neither broker lets clients buy actual, delivered cryptocurrency, and neither offers exchange-traded U.S. shares such as Apple as direct investments. FxPro and ActivTrades both give traders plenty of platform choices, including free demo accounts, web and Windows desktop platforms, copy trading, and support for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. Each broker also lets users place trades straight from a chart, which can make it easier to act quickly while reviewing price moves. FxPro does well with third-party research tools, offering Autochartist and Trading Central, which can help traders spot chart patterns and trading ideas. Both brokers also earn 4 out of 5 stars for Education from ForexBrokers.com, which suggests their learning support is strong enough for new traders who want to build confidence before trading real money.
Where they differ is in the depth and format of their education. FxPro does not offer monthly educational webinars and does not provide at least 10 advanced videos for more experienced traders, while ActivTrades does both and also meets the standard for forex or CFDs education with at least 10 learning pieces on those topics.
