CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 51% and 89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Regulation

StoneX Trading and FxPro are both well-known online brokers, but StoneX Trading stands out for its stronger trust profile. Founded in 1983, StoneX Trading is publicly traded, is not a bank, and holds 7 Tier-1 licenses plus 1 Tier-2 license, earning a ForexBrokers.com Trust Score of 99. FxPro, founded in 2006, is not publicly traded, is a bank, and holds 2 Tier-1 licenses and 1 Tier-2 license, with a Trust Score of 93.

Using ForexBrokers.com’s scale, both brokers fall in the highly trusted range, with scores between 90 and 99. However, StoneX Trading ranks higher overall thanks to its longer track record, stock market listing, and larger number of top-tier regulatory approvals. FxPro still remains a highly trusted choice, but StoneX Trading offers the stronger regulatory profile on paper.

Fees

StoneX Trading comes out ahead of FxPro on commissions and fees, with a 4.5-star rating and a rank of #16 out of 36 brokers for this category. Its pricing for CFDs, forex, and spread-betting products is generally in line with the industry average, and traders can get the best pricing on StoneX Trading’s own platforms or MetaTrader. On its CFD account, the average EUR/USD spread was 0.74 pips as of July 2023, which is competitive, though still not quite as low as the very best brokers in this space.

FxPro is more expensive overall, earning 4 stars and ranking #30 out of 36 for commissions and fees. Its pricing is above the industry average, especially compared with lower-cost rivals. FxPro’s most competitive pricing is on cTrader, where commission-based trading gives an effective EUR/USD spread of about 1.27 pips. On MT4 and MT5, variable spreads are higher, and while FxPro does offer both fixed and variable pricing options on some platforms, the overall cost structure is less attractive than StoneX Trading’s.

For active traders, both brokers offer discounts, but StoneX Trading’s rebate plans are more detailed and can be especially useful for high-volume clients. In the U.K., professional traders can qualify for rebates starting at £4 per million, while in Australia rebates range from AUD $4.5 per million to AUD $14.5 per million depending on volume. FxPro’s Elite account also includes active trader discounts of up to 30%, but even with those savings, its all-in pricing still tends to trail behind the better-priced brokers in the market.

The biggest difference is that FxPro also offers MetaTrader 5, while StoneX Trading does not. That extra platform option may matter to traders who want more tools or prefer MT5’s newer setup. Based on ForexBrokers.com ratings, StoneX Trading comes out ahead for trading platforms and tools with 4.5 out of 5 stars and a #11 ranking out of 36 brokers, compared with FxPro’s 4 stars and #18 ranking.

Market research

When it comes to market research, both StoneX Trading and FxPro give traders a similar set of useful tools. Each broker offers daily market commentary, forex news from major sources like Bloomberg, Reuters, and Dow Jones, a Trading Central tool for technical analysis, sentiment data showing long versus short positioning, and an economic calendar with key global events. Neither broker includes Autochartist, TipRanks, or Acuity Trading, so their research offerings are closely matched for traders who want the basics without extra add-ons.

Where StoneX Trading stands out is in its overall research rating and ranking. StoneX Trading is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars for Research and ranks #10 out of 36 brokers on ForexBrokers.com, while FxPro is rated 4 stars and ranks #23 out of 36. Beginners and education

For beginners looking to learn forex and CFD trading, StoneX Trading has the edge over FxPro. StoneX Trading offers forex and CFDs education with at least 10 learning pieces, hosts online educational client webinars at least once a month, and provides 10 or more beginner videos as well as 10 or more advanced videos. It is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars for Education and ranks #9 out of 36 brokers in the ForexBrokers.com Education category. FxPro also gives beginners access to at least 10 beginner videos and offers forex and CFDs education content, but it does not run monthly educational webinars and does not match StoneX Trading’s advanced video library.

Overall, StoneX Trading is the stronger choice for new traders who want more ways to learn, especially if they value live webinars and a wider mix of beginner and advanced video lessons. FxPro still provides useful starter education, but its lower 4-star Education rating and #17 ranking suggest a smaller learning offer compared with StoneX Trading.
