Regulation

Tickmill, founded in 2014, stands out as a trusted online broker with a Trust Score of 86, indicating a high level of reliability. Although not publicly traded or a bank, Tickmill holds two Tier-1 licenses, which reflects its strong standing in the industry for trustworthiness. In addition, it holds two Tier-2 licenses, further reinforcing its reputation as a secure platform for trading.

Notably, Trading 212 has secured three Tier-1 licenses, demonstrating a commendable level of trust. However, it does not possess any Tier-2 licenses. Fees

Comparing commissions and fees, Tickmill and Trading 212 take different paths. Tickmill offers two forex/CFD account types: Classic (no commission, you pay the spread) and Raw (low spreads plus a commission). The Raw account charges $3 per side per standard lot ($6 round turn), replacing the old Pro pricing, and has a $100 minimum deposit. Trading 212 splits pricing between its Invest account (for shares) and its CFD account; while it advertises zero-commission trading, you still pay the spread. Minimum deposits are low: €1 for Invest and €10 for CFDs.

On pricing for popular pairs like EUR/USD, the differences are clear. Tickmill’s Raw account lists a typical spread of 0.11 pips; after adding the new commission (about 0.6 pips round turn), the all-in trading cost is roughly 0.71 pips under normal market conditions. Tickmill’s Classic account is commission-free but much wider at 1.76 pips (Aug 2023). By contrast, Trading 212’s published average spread for EUR/USD was 2.7 pips in April 2025 on its CFD account—meaning higher costs than many leading forex and CFD brokers, including Tickmill’s Raw account.

Bottom line: for active forex and CFD traders focused on low all-in costs, Tickmill’s Raw account is hard to beat. Tickmill earns 5 out of 5 stars for commissions and fees and ranks #10 out of 63 brokers. Trading 212 earns 4 out of 5 stars and ranks #27 out of 63; it’s easy to start with very small deposits, but its wider average spreads can make frequent trading more expensive.
