Fees

Comparing commissions and fees, Tickmill earns 5 out of 5 stars and ranks #4 of 63 brokers for pricing, while Trading 212 earns 4 out of 5 stars and ranks #50 of 63. That gap shows up most clearly in forex and CFD costs, where spread-plus-commission structures often beat “zero-commission” models that rely on wider spreads.

Tickmill offers two account types. The Classic account is commission-free but carries higher average spreads (about 1.76 pips on EUR/USD as of August 2023). The Raw account replaced the Pro and now charges $3 per side ($6 per standard lot, per 100,000 units) with a low $100 minimum deposit. Tickmill lists a typical EUR/USD spread of 0.11 pips (October 2023) on Raw; when you add today’s commission equivalent of 0.6 pips, the all-in cost comes to about 0.71 pips during normal market conditions—still highly competitive for active traders.

Trading 212 has Invest (shares) and CFD accounts; the CFD account advertises zero-commission trading, but you pay the spread. Trading 212’s published averages show an EUR/USD spread of 2.7 pips in April 2025, which is considerably wider than Tickmill’s Raw all-in costs. Minimum deposits are low (1 euro for Invest, 10 euros for CFD), but for pure trading costs—especially in forex—Tickmill’s Raw pricing tends to work out cheaper than Trading 212’s spread-only model.
