FP Markets, established in 2005, holds a trust score of 89, classifying it as a trusted broker, according to ForexBrokers.com. Unlike FOREX.com, FP Markets is not publicly traded. Both offer a spread-only Standard account and a commission-based Raw/ECN option, but FP Markets generally comes out cheaper on its commission plan. FOREX.com can be slightly pricey versus the industry average unless you use its Raw pricing or trade outside the U.S.

FOREX.com’s Standard account (the only MetaTrader choice) typically shows wider spreads—about 1.4 pips on EUR/USD in the U.S. as of July 2023, though outside the U.S. it averaged 0.74 pips in July 2023. Its RAW Spread account replaces the old DMA and posts typical EUR/USD spreads of 0.13 pips (Feb 2024) plus a $7 per round-turn per standard lot commission (~0.7 pips), putting the all-in around 0.83 pips before any rebates. There are six volume tiers with rebates from $2 to $9 per million traded; however, unless you trade more than $50 million per month, total costs for U.S. residents tend to be similar to the Standard account.

FP Markets’ Raw ECN account averaged 0.1 pips on EUR/USD in October 2023, with a $6 round-turn commission per standard lot—about 0.8 pips all-in—while its Standard account averaged 1.1 pips. You can use MetaTrader or cTrader with either pricing model. FP Markets also offers Iress with Direct Market Access and depth-of-book, but platform/data fees make it better suited to larger, active accounts. Bottom line: both brokers provide a low-spread, commission route, yet FP Markets typically edges FOREX.com on all-in costs, whereas FOREX.com’s Raw plan narrows the gap and offers strong availability for U.S.-based traders.
