In this head to head comparison of FOREX.com vs Questrade, we will compare the trading platforms, mobile apps, range of investments, costs, market research, and more. Let's dive in.
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 51% and 89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.
FOREX.com (founded 1999) vs Questrade (founded 2000): FOREX.com is publicly traded, while Questrade is privately held; neither is a bank. In regulation, FOREX.com holds seven Tier-1 licenses (highly trusted by ForexBrokers.com) and two Tier-2 licenses (trusted), compared with Questrade’s one Tier-1 and zero Tier-2 licenses.
Trust Score: ForexBrokers.com rates FOREX.com at 99/99 and Questrade at 85/99. On this scale, 90–99 is highly trusted, 80–89 trusted, 70–79 average risk, 60–69 high risk, and below 59 not trusted. In short, FOREX.com reaches the highest trust tier with wider regulatory coverage, while Questrade is trusted but with fewer top-tier approvals.

Comparing commissions and fees, FOREX.com generally charges less than Questrade for forex if you use its commission-based pricing, and slightly more if you stick with its spread-only plan in the U.S. FOREX.com earns 4.5 out of 5 stars for commissions and fees and ranks #15 out of 63 brokers, while Questrade earns 3.5 out of 5 stars and ranks #33 out of 63.
FOREX.com offers two main pricing paths: a spread-only Standard account and a commission-based RAW account. In the U.S., the Standard account’s typical EUR/USD spread is about 1.4 pips (July 2023), while outside the U.S. it averaged 0.74 pips on EUR/USD in July 2023. The RAW account replaces the old DMA plan and posts very tight typical EUR/USD spreads around 0.13 pips (Feb 2024) plus a $7 commission per standard lot round-trip (about 0.7 pips all-in before any volume rebates). Active traders can earn $2–$9 per million in rebates across six tiers, and very high-volume traders (over $2 billion per month) can see effective costs comparable to leading low-cost ECN-style brokers. Note: unless you trade more than $50 million per month, the all-in cost of the Commission/RAW plan is roughly similar to the Standard plan for U.S. residents.
Questrade Global is a spread-only broker—your cost is built into the bid-ask spread. While spreads can be as low as 0.8 pips in normal conditions, observed averages on major pairs often run closer to 2.1–2.5 pips, which puts a typical one-standard-lot trade near $20 round-trip at a 2-pip spread. For CFDs, Questrade adds a $9.95 USD trading fee per unit when you open and close a position (about $19.95 round-trip) on top of the spread, plus overnight financing; for example, a single Tesla CFD can cost roughly 5.8% in transaction fees alone before financing, meaning you’d need a return of over 6% just to break even.

Comparing education for beginners, FOREX.com clearly offers more. It runs live client webinars at least once a month and provides a library with 10 or more beginner trading videos, plus 10 or more advanced videos for when you’re ready to level up.
