CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 51% and 89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.
FxPro, founded in 2006, and Questrade, established in 2000, are two prominent online brokers, each with unique regulatory features. FxPro, unlike Questrade, operates as a bank and is not publicly traded. When it comes to regulatory safety, both hold two Tier-1 licenses, which are highly trusted according to ForexBrokers.com. Additionally, FxPro has one Tier-2 license, enhancing its regulatory standing, whereas Questrade has none.
In terms of trustworthiness, FxPro earns a commendable Trust Score of 93 out of 99 from ForexBrokers.com, placing it in the highly trusted category. In comparison, Questrade receives a Trust Score of 86, labeling it as trusted but slightly lower than FxPro. Both brokers are well-regarded in the industry, but FxPro's additional Tier-2 license and higher Trust Score give it an edge in terms of perceived security and reliability.

Comparing commissions and fees, FxPro generally comes in higher than the industry average but still fares better than Questrade in our ratings. FxPro earns 4 stars and ranks 33rd out of 63 brokers for commissions and fees at ForexBrokers.com, while Questrade earns 3 stars and ranks 59th. Both can be pricey, yet FxPro offers more pricing choices and, in some cases, tighter effective costs depending on platform and execution.
FxPro’s most competitive pricing is on cTrader, where commission-based trades on EUR/USD work out to about 1.27 pips effective cost (0.37-pip average spread plus a 0.9-pip commission equivalent; FxPro data from August 2020). On MetaTrader, variable EUR/USD spreads were about 1.58 pips on MT4 market execution (1.51 pips on MT5) and 1.71 pips with instant execution. MT4 lets you choose variable or fixed spreads (no fixed pricing on MT5), and execution can be instant (possible requotes, no slippage) or market (no requotes, possible slippage). Note: cTrader has no minimum distance for stop/limit orders, while MetaTrader requires at least 1 pip. FxPro also offers an Active Trader (Elite) discount program up to 30%, though it still trails top discount programs from leaders like FOREX.com, IG, and Saxo.
Questrade’s target spread of 1.9 pips on EUR/USD is steep versus the industry average, which contributes to its lower score: 3 stars and a 59th-place rank out of 63 brokers for commissions and fees at ForexBrokers.com. Traders focused on minimizing spread costs—especially on major pairs—may find better value elsewhere.
